“Half memoir, half travel, A Yank Back to England...is an absolutely wonderful book, not only about going home again but also about love and family and tradition and the passage of the years.”

No milk in your tea?

“And you never have milk in your tea?” Mum said it sympathetically, finding it hard to believe.
“Never. Tastes better. Really. You should try it,” said Frances.
“At my age! Tea without milk.” She laughed, then tried one more time. “Frances, you never had milk in your tea? Not ever?”
Frances confessed to drinking her coffee black too.
“Oh, well, coffee, yes, but tea? Funny, really. Oh, well.”

Ha ha! At a super, big push I can have tea without sweetner in but I cannot even consider having tea without milk. I have skim milk though.

I have tea without milk, but my coffee has to have milk. I tried tea with milk once, but it seemed.....wrong. LOL

Much as my mother tried to deny her English roots, she brought me up on tea with milk (and sugar), which I'm guessing is how she learned to drink it from her Brit-born father and his parents.

Im with Frances, even after 19 years in the UK I still cant quite down a cup of tea with milk. If given to me on the assumption that I am normal, I will sip politely but never finish it!
